Mini-Pumper 31 serves the Silver Spring Community Fire Company in a very unique role. The role of urban interface/ wild land suppression is common in suburban/rural communities such as Silver Spring Township. The abundance of limited access homes enveloped in forested areas as well as the presence of farm land calls for the need of specialized vehicles. Urban interface vehicles are designed to be smaller versions of structure engines. Urban interface vehicles are capable of handling structural fire suppression in a limited access scenario and are also used in suppression of minor wildland fires depending on access needs.
